What is ATR Trend Envelopes Indicator?

ATR Trend Envelopes is an MT5 chart indicator that displays upper and lower bands around a smoothed average using ATR-based distance. Average period, ATR period, multiplier, source, colors, and line settings shape the overlay.
The bands expand and contract with the displayed range, giving chart context for comparing price location and volatility. They are reference boundaries rather than a directional conclusion.
How to Use It in Practice

Read the blue and red envelope states with the distance from price, then compare the spacing of the bands with the recent ATR range:
- Use ATR period to lengthen or shorten the ATR calculation sample when comparing the band response.
- Use ATR multiplication factor to alter the distance between the displayed ATR line and price.
- Keep the colored line changes alongside the broader chart and any other reference drawings.
ATR makes the displayed envelope responsive to range changes, and simple settings support different chart contexts.
MT5 Indicator Parameters

The screenshot above shows the default input parameters in the MT5 settings window.
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| ATR period | Defines how many candles are used to calculate the Average True Range. A shorter period makes the envelopes more sensitive, while a longer one smooths the lines. |
| ATR multiplication factor | Specifies how much the ATR value is multiplied to determine the distance between the price and the envelope lines. Increasing this factor widens the envelopes, while reducing it makes them tighter. |
