What is Schaff Trend Cycle?
Schaff Trend Cycle displays a smoothed cycle line in a separate MT4 pane. The line moves within a bounded oscillator scale, giving the chart a compact view of cycle movement over the selected history.
The calculation combines MACD-style movement with cycle smoothing. The package includes an .ex4 file and the display is a visual reference rather than a fixed directional conclusion.
How to use Schaff Trend Cycle
Compare the oscillator line with its upper and lower reference areas and the related price chart. Extended movement near one side of the pane can be reviewed with the broader trend and range context.
MAShort, MALong, Cycle, and CountBars control the calculation window. The defaults are 23, 50, 10.0, and 300.
Where it helps
The bounded line remains below the main price chart.
Cycle and moving-average settings shape the displayed response.
The oscillator scale provides consistent upper and lower references.

How to Install .ex4 Indicator in MetaTrader 4
- Download the ZIP file and extract it.
- In MT4, select File → Open Data Folder.
- Open MQL4 → Indicators and copy the EX4 or MQ4 file into it.
- If the package includes library files, copy them to MQL4 → Libraries. Copy TPL files to the top-level templates folder.
- Restart MT4, find the indicator in the Navigator, and drag it onto a chart.
Test the tool on a demo account first. File contents and required folders can vary between packages.
